About Us.
Len & Margaret Hoek established Aorangi Bulb Nurseries in 1957. Initially growing a large range of different flower and bulb lines, they eventually specialised in gladioli, Dutch irises, daffodils and hyacinths. They were joined in business by their son Paul and his wife Linda in 1992.
In 1994 we began to offer a wider trade list of bulbs including, for the first time, lines from other top New Zealand growers to complement our own production. This trade list has now grown to become a 24 page colour catalogue covering over 270 different varieties of bulbs with over 150 available in full colour retail packs. The quality and size of our stock is well known and all our bulbs are backed up by our exclusive performance guarantee.
Our total area in spring bulb production in the 1999/2000 season exceeded 9 hectares (22 acres). Aorangi Bulb Nurseries is New Zealand's largest grower of gladioli for both flower and corm production the largest grower of Dutch irises for bulb production.
Aorangi Bulbs Nurseries has been the market leader in the introduction of new varieties for more than 20 years. Our range of nursery grown daffodils, Dutch irises, hyacinths and gladioli includes selections from the latest overseas breeding work, bringing new colours, better health and easier growth to New Zealand gardeners.
